Victoria Cruz is a Puerto Rican LGBTQ+ activist and retired domestic violence counselor renowned for her dedication to advocating for marginalized communities. Born in Guánica in 1945, she moved to New York City, where she became an active participant in the LGBTQ+ rights movement. Cruz worked with the Anti-Violence Project, providing support to survivors of violence within the LGBTQ+ community. Her relentless advocacy earned her the National Crime Victim Service Award in 2012. Cruz's life and work were prominently featured in the documentary "The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson," highlighting her commitment to justice and equality.
