The Borinqueneers hold a distinguished place in Puerto Rican heritage, symbolizing bravery, resilience, and patriotism. Their legacy has fostered immense pride among Puerto Ricans, highlighting their significant role in U.S. military history and reinforcing cultural identity.The 65th Infantry Regiment, known as "The Borinqueneers," was established on March 2, 1899, as a Puerto Rican regiment of the United States Army. Their mission was to serve with honor and fidelity, participating in major conflicts such as World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. Their contributions have left an indelible mark on Puerto Rican culture, embodying the courage and dedication of Puerto Rican soldiers. In recognition of their service, the regiment was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2014.
