Bio

Rosie Pérez is a multifaceted American actress, choreographer, and activist of Puerto Rican descent. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1964, Pérez began her career in the entertainment industry as a dancer on "Soul Train" and later became a choreographer for music videos and concerts. She gained critical acclaim for her acting debut in Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" (1989) and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Fearless" (1993). Pérez has been a vocal advocate for HIV/AIDS awareness, Puerto Rican rights, and women's health issues, using her platform to effect positive change.
