Miriam Colón was a trailblazing Puerto Rican actress and founder of the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, in 1930, she moved to New York City to pursue acting, becoming one of the first Puerto Rican actresses to gain prominence in American television and film. Her extensive career included roles in notable films such as "Scarface" (1983) and "Sabrina" (1995). In 1967, she established the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater in New York City, providing a platform for Latino performers and playwrights and enriching the cultural landscape with diverse narratives. Colón's dedication to the arts and her community has left an indelible mark on American theater and cinema.
